A Relationship to Face Adversity and Celebrate Success

The relationship between a counselor and client is so unique and very important in determining the effectiveness of services offered, this is why my number one priority in counseling is developing and nurturing this relationship in order to provide the help you desire and deserve in the most effective and efficient way possible. 

How I View "Problems"

I view the "problems" that bring you to counseling within a wellness model where we all face struggles throughout life that are a normal part of being human.  This is contrary to some of the mental health professions that rely more heavily on a medical model that assumes you are experiencing a significant disorder and you must be "fixed" through long-term help and dependency on an educated expert.  While the medical model approach is absolutely appropriate for certain mental and physical conditions, the majority of society regularly struggles with the obstacles and corresponding distress that life can unexpectedly throw our way!

While I would consider myself educated, I am no expert when it comes to what it really feels like to live your life facing the "problem" that brings you to seek counseling.  My expertise is providing a stable therapeutic environment and facilitating our collaborative conversations down pathways of discovery that can be used to understand and navigate your "problems" easier.

Who Do I Help?

I actively look for opportunities to experience and help members of different races, sexual orientation, gender identities, socioeconomic status, physical and mental ability, as well as those that hold different religious and/or spiritual beliefs.  I am happy and eager to meet anyone to see if we are the best therapeutic fit for one another, however if I have a more appropriate resource or professional referral for you I will also share this in order to ensure that you receive the resources you need and deserve.

I have experience working with addictions, anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anger management, male counseling, career counseling, personality assessments, collaborative processing and interpretation of assessment results, and extensive personal and professional experience with Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
